YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON CLIMATE

This installation at Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG), presented in partnership with BBG and the Nature Conservancy, featured a climate action sticker wall, including a slate of inspiring and achievable climate actions, accompanied by a digest of important recent research about how we can all be part of the needed cultural shift on climate. A 30-foot-long photo montage—featuring many who visited the Climate Museum Pop-Up in Soho—illustrated the community we create when we take action for a climate safe and just future.

This installation was part of Power of Trees, Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s 2023 exhibition and program series, running from June 17 to October 22.

  • Power of Trees, Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s 2023 exhibition and program series, is all about trees: in the Garden, in Brooklyn, and around the world. This extensive, multifaceted show, up through October, explores the many ways in which trees provide benefits to urban neighborhoods, structure and stability for ecosystems, and a means for combating climate change—even as they are themselves threatened by rising global temperatures. Power of Trees includes site-specific art installations by local BIPOC artists, co-presented with AnkhLave Arts Alliance, that celebrate trees as community hosts; the photography exhibition Witness Trees by Brooklyn-based artist Carolyn Monastra; a show on the trees of Brooklyn’s Little Caribbean complete with recipes; a Shinnecock oral history of trees; kid-friendly science and storytelling features; and much more. Power of Trees offers a socially inclusive feast for the senses, the mind, and the spirit.

Admission to Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Power of Trees grants you access to this installation and a range of programming that delves into the intersection of trees, climate, art, social justice, health, history, ecology, storytelling, and more.
